Welcome to Literary Tapestry

Literary Tapestry opened online in 2026 and is proudly based in Bedfordshire, UK.

Books have the power to enrich our lives at any age. Yet knowing where to begin or how to shape a bookshelf that truly reflects your needs can often feel overwhelming.

That’s where Literary Tapestry comes in. We aim to offer a gentle guiding hand through thoughtfully curated reading subscriptions, welcoming book clubs, and carefully sourced second-hand books, each chosen with intention and care.

Our range of literary gifts is designed to meet people where they are: supporting new parents navigating how to weave books into busy routines, offering students a much-needed escape from course reading, or providing a meaningful gift that brings comfort to a friend or loved one during times of grief.

At Literary Tapestry, every book is part of a larger story, one that values connection, comfort, and the quiet power of reading.

Owner- Antonia Smith

Before founding Literary Tapestry, I spent five years helping to establish and run an independent bookshop in St Albans alongside my mum. During this time, my role covered a wide range of responsibilities, including event planning and chairing, financial management and payroll, and leading a team of both staff and volunteers.

Community engagement was at the heart of everything we did. I worked closely with schools and local groups such as the Brownies to support literacy and learning, and I regularly hosted author events that explored important and sensitive topics, including child loss and neurodiversity. When the COVID-19 pandemic began, I quickly adapted the business by creating an online platform, allowing the bookshop to reach a wider audience and continue supporting its customers during an uncertain time.

Before bookselling, I completed an MA in Archaeology at UCL and worked at heritage sites managed by the National Trust and English Heritage. I have a deep passion for ancient history and a strong belief in the importance of heritage and storytelling within our communities.

In opening Literary Tapestry, I’ve returned to the aspects of bookselling that brought me the greatest joy: thoughtful curation, meaningful connections, and community-led reading, while creating a business that can grow alongside raising my young son and our small dog.

When I was an unhappy little boy, going to the library changed my life... Books are your ticket to the whole world.
